We try to improve the organic matter levels of the soil through incorporation of our crop residues wherever possible. Our farming practices try to avoid wind and water erosion of our soils, and to minimise the build up of salt in our soils.

Water is sourced from both the Murrumbidgee River via General Security Allocations and from Groundwater Reserves. Water levels and quality are regularly recorded and monitored.

All tailwater is recycled by collecting and storing tailwater on farm and then reused for irrigation purposes either immediately or at a later date.

Uardry is proud of its environmental credentials. Charles Mills (co-owner of Uardry from 1875 to the early 1900s) saw the value of irrigating pasture early and by 1890 had installed a 10-inch Robinson Pump. This focus has continued with the application of careful sustainable practices and the planting of nature-strips.
